Oklahoma ordered the shipment of Bibles for use in public school classrooms

Over 500 Bibles have been acquired for Advanced Placement (AP) Government classrooms across Oklahoma, marking a significant step in incorporating the Bible as an "academic and literary resource" in U.S. public schools.

According to State Superintendent Ryan Walters, this initiative is the first of its kind and is part of a broader effort to provide Bibles for every classroom in the state.

These Bibles, specifically designated for AP Government courses, are part of a larger plan to distribute 55,000 King James Version Bibles.

Each Bible includes the United States Pledge of Allegiance, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

“We are committed to making Bibles accessible in every classroom across Oklahoma as quickly as possible,” State Superintendent Ryan Walters said in a statement. “I will do everything necessary to ensure Oklahoma students have the tools they need to thoroughly understand American history.

“By taking action now, Oklahoma is setting a national example by prioritizing academic excellence and providing essential historical, cultural, and literary context for our students. We will not rewrite our history, and the Bible is a significant part of that story.”

In a social media video, Walters highlighted the importance of these materials in teaching students about American history.
