Service at a banned house church was raided in Beijing
Beijing Zion Church was one of the biggest house churches in Beijing until it was banned in 2018. Since then, the members are still active, and the church has refused to disappear. Now police raided one of its gatherings and detained a young devotee.
Chinese police raided the Sunday service of Beijing Zion Church again. The church was once one of the biggest house churches in Beijing until authorities banned it in 2018. Since then, the church has refused to disappear. Its members are still active and hold gatherings and services. When the church was officially working and even after its ban, it was constantly a target of police harassment.
The latest police raid was carried out on July 7, when about twenty officers stormed a gathering of young members of the church. Many of them were taken for questioning, and a young woman, Zhou Sirui, was detained. According to a spokesperson for the church, Sister Sirui was often harassed and questioned by the police, but her faith stayed strong.
“She was not only firm, but also encouraged young members who were weak and shaken in persecution. We are grateful to have such a young woman as a good witness in this land!”
Despite the intensive persecution, Sister Sirui and many of the other followers stayed true to their faith, and even in the midst of harassment, the church is still alive.
