Boko Haram posts video of kidnapped pastor
In the video, the pastor, who was kidnapped last year, is held at gunpoint and says that unless the demands of the terrorists are fulfilled, he and his wife will be executed.
In March 2023, Pastor Paul Musa and his wife Ruth were kidnapped from their home in northern Borno State, Nigeria. Since then, they have been held captive by the terrorist group Boko Haram. Their captors posted a video of them on the weekend of June 22.
In the short video, Pastor Paul is seen kneeling and being held at gunpoint by a masked terrorist. He says that unless the demands of the terrorists are fulfilled, he and his wife will be executed. The terrorists set the end date for their demands for the following weekend.
In May this year, another video was posted by Boko Haram in which the pastor and his wife are shown as well. In that video, Pastor Paul asks the government and the Christian community of Nigeria to help them and assist with their release.
In Nigeria, kidnapping pastors and priests is not an unusual tactic of terrorist groups. Many are held captive, and the abductors raise demands for their lives and freedom. The long, ongoing terrorist anti-Christian violence has taken more than 45,000 Christian lives since 2009.
