Crackdown on organizations continues in Nicaragua

The government in Nicaragua banned ten different entities, including foundations, NGOs, and religious organizations.

On February 27, the Nicaraguan government banned another ten organizations. This time, foundations, NGOs, universities, and religious associations fall victim to government crackdown.

The Ortega regime justifies their dealings with non-profit organizations, citing “violations and irregularities in the presentation of financial statements.”

The government has canceled the legal status of more than 3,500 different organizations, political parties, and associations since 2018. Numerous religious and Christian organizations also fell victim to the regime and lost their legal status.
