A kidnapped priest was released in Nigeria

A priest from the Society of Saint Jude kidnapped last week has been released.

 

“According to the Vicar General of the Diocese of Ogoja, Father Peter Abang Ochang who was kidnapped on Thursday by “bandits”, was released on Saturday November 26.

Father Peter Abue, vicar general of the diocese of Ogoja, confirmed to Agenzia Fides the release on November 26 of Catholic priest Peter Abang Ochang from the church of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Mission (RCM) located in the state of Cross River in Nigeria.

The cleric had been abducted with five members of the St Jude Society, three women and two men, on Thursday, November 24, on the road to Abuja. They were on their way to the Nigerian capital to take part in “certain initiatives of the Church”, when they were attacked and “taken into the bush”, according to Fides“.
