Historic church devastated by fire in Florida

A little more than rubble is what is left behind after Jerusalem Baptist Church, a historic black church in Bishopville, burned to the ground Monday.
Lee county officials say crews fought the blaze at the church for hours after someone reported seeing smoke coming from the building. Thankfully, no one was inside at the time.
Jerusalem Baptist had its last sermon on the 29th of August. A place with over 140 years of history, and a pastor and choir – church members say kept everyone grounded.
“We thank God that we’re still a family. We’re going to pray together, and we’re going to stay together,” said Myron Martin, who attended the church five years, and helped to maintain the grounds.
The church served as a voting precinct, and had visitors far and wide over the decades, including Blues legend Drink Small. Members are now asking for prayers for healing and rebuilding.
