Catholic church demolished by teenagers in Quebec

The Catholic Church of Saint Francis Xavier in Kahnawake was devastated last week. The attack was probably related to the recent case in Canada of the discovery of graves hiding children's remains on church grounds.

“If you want to choose your opponent, choose the Canadian government that established the full-time school system. These are the people who need to be held accountable,” commented one of the community leaders Ross Montour.

The attack took place on the 27th of July in the late morning. Law enforcement officers received a report of broken windows in a Catholic church in the town of Kahnawake. Upon arrival, they only found tools that were probably used to destroy the windows. Around 2:30 am, they received another phone call, this time informing about the destruction of the facade of the church by two young people.

The perpetrators were detained, however, no charges were brought against them and their parents were released. “Curses and anti-Catholic symbols were drawn on the door of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church,” says the local news website, The Eastern Door.
