Graves of a Commonwealth military cemetery vandalised in Tunisia

About fifteen marble plaques in the Commonwealth military cemetery in Thibar were vandalised on the 8th of May. Tombstones were broken or thrown to the ground.

A security source confirmed to a Digital Tunisia correspondent that the National Guard and the Municipality of Thibar recovered the pieces of marble that had been smashed. An investigation has been launched.

It should be noted that a cross stands in the middle of this cemetery  in good general condition – this is not so common in a Muslim country.
