Raid on Chinese church results in court hearing
In a joint operation, the Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs raided the Mt. Olive Church on the 24th of March, confiscating pamphlets, Bibles, books, and other religious items without a warrant.
According to China Aid news, “for the past several years, Chongqing Municipal government authorities have regularly targeted and heavily suppressed Chongqing Mount of Olive Church.”
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) organised a hearing on the 15th of April, allowing four representatives from the church to debate their views. Four members of the Mt. Olive Church will be in attendance.
A hearing is a mock judicial trial where each opposing views, debate. The result of the hearing will impact how the CCP court handles church-related cases in the future.
