A drunken man attacked a Catholic priest with an axe in Poland
A thirty-six-year-old man attacked a priest in the town of Otwock (near the Polish capital Warsaw) with an axe. He threatened the clergyman and the woman who witnessed the incident.
The incident took place last Monday, but police information about it was published a few days later. According to the officers’ findings, the attacker with the axe threatened the priest serving in the parish of Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus in Otwock-Świder.
The aggressor hit the clergyman in the face and walked away. He also managed to address threats of death to the woman who witnessed the attack and tried to intervene.
The policemen, alerted by another priest, determined the description of the perpetrator and began searching for him in the city. They came across a man matching the image of the attacker on one of the estates near the church. He was carrying an axe and a machete.
Both victims recognised the perpetrator. Upon examination at the police station, it turned out that the man was under the influence of alcohol.
