A delegation from Hungary Helps Program travelled to Iraq to participate in Pope Francis’s historic visit
Tristan Azbej, the State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians and for the Hungary Helps Program, shared on his Facebook page that he had arrived at the airport in Erbil, which three weeks ago was the site of a terrorist attack. The State Secretary highlights that just like Pope Francis, the Hungary Helps Program's delegation was not frightened away from visiting and encouraging their Christian brothers and sisters in Iraq by this incident.
The Archbishop of Mosul has invited the Hungarian State Secretary to participate in Pope Francis’s historic visit. He will pay a visit to the communities that Hungary Helps Program has assisted with, in reconstruction projects, since the occupation of ISIS.
At the first stop on the mission, Tristan Azbej visited Massud Barzani, President of the Kurdish Democratic Party, who has been working hard to stabilise the Kurdish autonomous region’s situation, especially when it was most needed due to ISIS.
