63,000 USD promised for anyone who beheads a Christian in Pakistan
Faraz Pervaiz is a Pakistani Christian sentenced to death for blasphemy. This human rights defender currently lives in Thailand where he went into exile after being accused of blasphemy in 2014.
In Pakistan, posters advertise a bounty of ten million Pakistani rupees (about 63,000 USD), to anyone who beheads him. This is, according to the poster, the “Cursed Blasphemer Head Prize.” And it’s a photo from that poster that Farza Pervaiz uses as a profile picture for his Twitter account.
The Christian, a father of three, is accused of posting blasphemous material on social media. In 2013, he supported Christians at the Joseph Colony in Lahore, where over one hundred houses and two churches were looted. He then led demonstrations and kept a blog, deemed blasphemous, on which he criticised Muhammad.
