A fire broke out in the Spanish church of Saint Martin

Last Sunday, a fire broke out in the historic church of Saint Martin in Plasencia (central Spain). It started burning last Sunday at around 9:30 pm.

The blaze could not be handled quickly as the fire seems to  have started outside the temple, and only later spread to the door and interior of the church.

The Church of San Martín is considered to be the oldest parish in the city of Plasencia. It is a temple built in the 13th century, the interior of which consists of three naves and houses a gilded and polychrome altar with paintings by Luis de Morales, dating back to 1570.
