A Christian girl was kidnapped from a Muslim-majority country in Asia
Open Doors reports about a teenage girl in an undisclosed Muslim-majority country in Asia. They cannot reveal her photo, real name, age or country to ensure her safety and that of her family. The international ministry is asking for prayers for this young girl, her family, and her local community. They also invite people to spare a thought for their partners on the ground who are working to free this girl—later mentioned as Maria, an assumed name.
Maria was kidnapped at gunpoint two weeks ago. Neighbours showed up at the family’s house, saying they had seen three armed men drag their daughter away.
“They pointed their guns at her,” the neighbours informed the family.”
Maria’s family narrated to an Open Doors ministry partner that they rushed to the police station to ask for help but because they were Christians, “the policemen were reluctant even to take a first incident report.”
It was only because local news media outlets covered the case and protesters showed up in front of the police station that forced police to open an investigation that would lead to the truth. It emerged that Maria had been kidnapped and abused by some co-workers from the factory where she worked. Consequentially, one man was arrested.
The team of Open Doors ask us to pray for this girl, by writing:
‘Sometimes stories come through that are not easy to tell; we must keep so many details concealed to protect believers. But we believe in prayer and our mission to stand with those who are persecuted in Jesus’ name. And we know that God knows every detail. As we pray for the situation, he hears our requests even when we can’t pray with precise information.’
