Islamic State attacks intensify during Ramadan

The last few months and the extreme situation caused by the novel coronavirus seem to have been favouring the resurgence of ISIS. During the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, they claimed responsibility for more than 260 attacks.
Since Ramadan’s beginning last month, the Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for over 260 attacks across Iraq, which resulted in the death or injury of 426 people, International Christian Concern reported.
These numbers show a steep increase in attacks in Iraq; however, ISIS has been more active on other continents lately. In March, suspected ISIS gunmen seized two towns in Northern Mozambique.
According to ICC, over the last few weeks, attacks in Syria and Egypt also increased. The attacks in Iraq are primarily along the perimeter of administrative division borders and not necessarily in Nineveh where most Christians lived before their displacement. However, the rise in attacks still brings fear to Christians.
