Jihadists continue their offensive on Mozambique
Mozambique is a former Portuguese colony in the south-east of Africa. It has been a refuge of Christianity and Catholicism in this part of the world for centuries. Jihadists are well aware of this as they penetrate deeper and deeper into the different layers of this postcolonial society every week.
The Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jammeh organisation (loosely affiliated with the Somali terrorist organisation Al-Shabaab), wants to introduce Sharia law in the northern province of Cabo Delgado, that has a predominantly Christian population.
According to the Directorate-General for Operations for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid, hundreds of villages along the border with Tanzania were burned or completely abandoned after jihadists launched a massive terror campaign.
Voice of America (VOA) reported that in recent weeks, jihadists have seized government buildings, robbed banks, blocked roads, and placed typical black flags as seen in other places in the world. The VOA publishes jihadist recordings of the terrified villagers in Cabo Delgado and the local leaders of Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jammeh. The latter, equipped with Kalashnikovs, threaten local Christians that “the only alternative to survival is for them to accept Islam.”
“We don’t want infidels to rule us. The power should consist only of real Muslims,” one could hear in a Mozambique jihadist video posted on the internet.
