Cardinal Ranjith asks prayers for the victims of last year’s attacks in Sri Lanka

Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith encouraged his countrymen to honour the victims of last year's terrorist attacks perpetrated by Islamic fundamentalists.
“On Tuesday, let’s celebrate their memory with two minutes of silence,” said Cardinal Ranjith, adding that everyone would do so following their religious tradition.
This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, all the celebrations planned to commemorate the victims of the attacks perpetrated last year will not take place. However, citizens will be able to watch television broadcasts of anniversary events organised with a limited number of people.
On the 21st of April 2019, nine terrorists from the local terrorist group National Thowheed Jamath perpetrated suicide attacks on three churches: two Catholic and one Evangelical, and on three luxury hotels.
