France: in times of an epidemic, the Left wants to facilitate access to abortion

Despite the current spread of COVID-19 all around the world and the thousands of people dying every single day from this virus, the French Left seems to have different priorities other than saving the lives of French citizens. It turns out that what worries French leftists is a possible limitation on access to the killing of unborn children. The French government has hurried to reassure the population that despite the coronavirus pandemic, the supply of this "service" will not be affected.
It is remarkable that in the current COVID-19 situation, when basically all civil rights can be put aside, and French citizens can be practically imprisoned in their homes, access to abortion must be kept at all cost.
Among the regulations associated with the reduction of the pandemic, abortion has been included as an “urgent intervention” and will not be suspended, although other operations and procedures necessary for the health of the people are to be postponed. The Ministries of Solidarity and Health and Gender Equality demanded that abortions continue to take place despite the worldwide pandemic.
Leftist politician Laurence Rossignol, former socialist minister for women and now a senator, believes that access to this “service” should be made available despite the current health crisis. He believes that since women may be locked up in quarantined homes while the health service deals with a pandemic, this may hinder procuring an abortion or cause cases where women will not make it on time for an abortion within the statutory deadlines.
Senator Rossignol believes that since “there is a risk that it will not be possible to provide abortions within the legal deadlines (…) the permissible period of killing the unborn can be extended and such practices simplified.” The former minister justified her position stating that extending the allowable time of abortion would ease the work of hospitals.
The simplification of procedures proposed by the socialist senator includes abolishing the obligation to consult minors during pregnancy and extending the possibility of “legal” killing of unborn children for another 14 days, i.e. until the 16th week of pregnancy.
