Facebook has an inbuilt  ‘Deboost’ code that gets rid of undesirable conservative content

Breitbart just reported that recent Facebook insider leaks released by Project Veritas reveal that the social media giant’s demoting of conservative content isn’t just done by human moderators, it’s built right into the code of the website as a technical process called “deboosting.”

One of the most shocking revelations from the report is that Mark Zuckerberg’s suppression of conservative content on the platform isn’t just the result of heavy-handed moderation by human employees, but is actually built right into the code of the site.

Why are we not surprised at

Because our articles have been continuously ‘deboosted’ over the last six months.

They were not allowed to ‘boost’ (to advertise) because – according to the moderator’s message – their content contained something that went against Facebook’s policies.

It was always hard to understand what the problem was as the moderator kept giving different reasons, some of which are outlined below:

We could not ‘boost’ an article about Asia Bibi’s acquittal by Pakistani Supreme Court because of its “weak content.”

There was no permission given to ‘boost’ our article about the first ever ministerial meeting on religious freedom in the United States because of its “political content.”

In another article about an editor of French National Television who was instructed to cut out a nativity scene from the background of an interview, Facebook informed us that, according to their policies, this content could not be advertised.

Most surprising of all was my blog entitled “Message for New York from the Boss Baby

where I wrote a fictitious message to New Yorkers, in the name of the well-known cartoon character asking them to do what they could to overturn Cuomo’s horrific late-term abortion bill.

In the text, I carefully avoided words like politics, politician, abortion, pro-life, pro-choice, Democrat, Republican, governor and so on– words that could have political connotations.

I did so precisely because by that time I have had the impression that there must have been a built-in mechanism that filters certain words or phrases.  I paid 20 USD to boost the article in New York State for seven days. 

And the miracle happened: Facebook accepted it in less than a minute; it had passed the “code.”

Unfortunately, it seems the text did not get past the screening personnel or some sophisticated searching motor because within ten minutes a second message arrived informing me that Facebook would radically restrict the number of users being reached because my content was “negative” and could hurt the feelings of some.

And that is precisely what happened. The blog only reached 895 people in seven days, instead of the previously promised 640 – 3,900 people per day.

Curiously, my 20 USD was accepted.

Unlike content, it seems that money can always be ‘boosted,’ even if it is “conservative.”
