Thieves attacked and desecrated a church in Madrid
The parish of Nuestra Señora in Madrid was plundered and desecrated at daybreak on the 13th of November.
A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Madrid told newspapers that a group of attackers broke open the front door of the church, desecrated the sanctuary, stole a ciborium and a small monstrance and looted the parish office.
While police are still searching for the thieves and the stolen artefacts, nobody has yet been prosecuted for this incident that both attacks religious freedom and mocks what many hold as sacred.
The Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Carlos Osoro condemned the actions of the thieves, reassured the members of the parish community and promised that an act of atonement would soon be made in the church.
