A town inhabited by a Christian community and destroyed by the Islamic State terrorist organisation in 2014 in Iraq has been rebuilt using a donation of 2 million euros from the Hungarian government, daily Magyar Idők reported on Monday.

According to the paper, the town, Telsqof has been renamed  Bint Al-Majar or “Hungary’s Daughter,” in recognition of the gesture.

Tristan Azbej, Deputy Secretary of State at the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office, told the paper that the Hungarian government had spent a total of 4.5 billion forints (EUR 14m) on aid in the past 18 months to help persecuted Christians stay in their homelands.
